Air engine plans for sale

After numerous queries for plans for my first air engine, I finally drew some plans for my air engine. The engine, as built, is pictured at left.

The plans include:

  • Detailed dimensioned drawings of all the parts, as well as assembly views.
  • Detailed photographs of all the disassembled parts of the engine, as well as larger photographs of the assembled engine
  • Illustrated principle of operation (how it works)
  • A SketchUp model of the engine, which allows you to view and render the engine from different angles, disassemble the engine, as well as regenerate each of the views in the plans by clicking on the 'scene' tabs. Google SketchUp is a free CAD program, downloadable from Google.
  • An offline copy of the article on building this engine, and things to watch out for.

The engine can be built from solid birch plywood, and a few small pieces of Maple. A table saw, drill press, and band saw or scrollsaw are all the machinery you need.

The plans are in Metric units, except for drill and dowel sizes, which are in imperial units. You can generate plans in imperial units simply by changing the units to "imperial" in SketchUp under 'model info', but the units will not work out to even numbers like they do in Metric.

The plans are in the form of a download, 2.2 megabytes in size.
